Dentists that see emergency patients typically serve patients with toothaches, broken teeth, dislodged fillings, and abscesses. Some emergency dentists also see patients who are suffering from severe oral pain and facial swelling. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, it is best to schedule an emergency appointment with your dentist. This is particularly important if a patient is experiencing symptoms that may be indicative of a severe infection, such as a fever or difficulty opening the mouth.

In addition to treating severe pain, some emergency dental offices are also equipped to perform same-day restorations for patients whose permanent tooth has been knocked out of the mouth. In these cases, the dentist may be able to re-implant the tooth using a special splint that prevents further damage. In other cases, the emergency dentist may need to place a bridge or dental implant in the missing area.

Most dentists include their after-hours availability on their website for easier appointment scheduling. However, some patients may feel uncomfortable calling during non-office hours. In these instances, they may decide to contact a national dental referral service like Emergencydentistsusa.com. These services are designed to provide patients with a list of available emergency dentists in their area for convenient scheduling. Patients simply need to call the provided phone number to speak with a trained operator who can help them find an appropriate provider.

If you suspect that you or a loved one is suffering from a dental emergency, it is important to visit the nearest dental clinic as soon as possible. If you wait too long to seek treatment, the situation could worsen, resulting in more extensive and costly treatments.

What are the most common reasons for needing emergency care?

There are a number of reasons why patients need emergency dental care, but some of the more common ones include:

- A knocked out tooth

- An abscessed tooth

- A broken jaw

- Knocked out teeth that still have adult teeth growing in them

- Broken dentures, bridgework, or crowns

- Trauma to the face or mouth due to an accident or injury

- Severely infected wisdom teeth

All the above situations can cause extreme pain or discomfort and should be addressed as soon as possible. Even if a tooth has been knocked out of the socket, you should still attempt to reinsert it if you can. If you do insert it, keep it in place by biting down on a piece of gauze until you get to the dentist’s office. You might also want to try rinsing it off or using a bit of clove oil for temporary pain relief.

No matter what type of emergency you’re experiencing, it’s important to see a dentist as quickly as possible. Most dentists have office hours in the evenings or on the weekends, so you should be able to find one that can see you without much of a delay.

When you go to see your dentist, he or she will likely ask you some questions about what happened to determine if it was caused by your bite or if it was due to a fall or other accident. They’ll then examine your mouth to determine the severity of the damage and make treatment recommendations based on the findings.
